“Peace is much more than the mere absence of violence.” – Past Rotary International President Ian Riseley In 2017, Rotary entered a new partnership with the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) to enhance its peace and conflict resolution efforts with data-driven methodologies and tools. IEP had pioneered a conceptual framework for Positive Peace. Summer Lewis works for Rotary International as the Coordinator for the Rotary - Institute for Economics & Peace Partnership. She will tell us how the partnership enables both organizations to teach Rotarians how to apply new peacebuilding methods to their communities by addressing underlying causes of conflicts. Summer Lewis is a Rotary Peace Fellow. With her acceptance into the Rotary Peace Fellowship program, she attended the Peace Center at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Beth Roberts is the Long Term Support Division Manager and Aging and Disability Resource Center for Winnebago County Human Services. She coordinated a county wide group of people addressing diversity in this area and was recently appointed on the City of Oshkosh's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. The session will be focused on some of the things she has learned, some of the efforts that have been done to create a more inclusive community and how you can become engaged in these efforts.
